Just When I Thought I Was Finished

Do you ever sense how some things are just there to remind us that the work is never done?  The good thing about any kind of work is that there is always an opportunity to get a good feeling of accomplishment when the task is finished.  Some tasks, however, are like the gifts that keep on giving.  Yard work, for example, tends to come every season.  We just set a neighborhood record for the number of yard waste bags – we filled and put out at the edge of the yard – 54 bags full of leaves and twigs.  We all pitched in, and finished it on that balmy Indian summer day.  It was such a nice feeling to get it done, and to do it ourselves.  Unfortunately, a month later we are looking at the late falling leaves creating a mess in the yard – what is up with that?  I guess it is just one of those things that are never done.  Good thing there are teenagers eager to pick up a few bucks doing some yard cleanup!  My dad would always tell me that a job worth doing is worth doing well.  In a way, if you focus on the positives that come from a job well done even knowing that you may be doing it again next season – the value of hard work and the gratification from completing those tasks makes it worth doing again and again.
